ANITA GUPTA BA, FCIP, CRM
President and CEO

Anita Gupta is the president of NMI Tax Consultants and is responsible for the growth, strategic decision making, and the marketing of new clients. Anita has been integral in building a team of professionals to ensure the highest standards of practice. Her uncompromising integrity, fairness, business acumen, and client confidentiality and satisfaction has strengthened and enhanced the firms profile in the commodity tax field. With over 20 years of experience in the business and corporate world, her interaction with various levels of government, dignitaries, corporate and community leaders, and academia has broadened her corporate governance. She is active in various community, business, and political organizations. Anita has been appointed by Lt. Governor Bartleman as a Board Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She has been the past President Eiproc-a South Asian Professional Organization, and continues to serve on the Advisory Board. As well, she keeps an active interest as a member of the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, and a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Professionals' Society.

ALI HIRJI CMA, BBA
Vice-President Marketing

Ali is Vice-President for Marketing and Operations. Ali has spent the last twenty years in the field of Commodity Taxes. He commenced his career in commodity taxes with one of the BIG 8 Public Accounting firm. Later on he headed the Tax Department of a major multinational before joining the NMI team and becoming a key player. He has a wealth of experience with a variety of clients and has successfully fought issues all the way to the Federal Court of Appeal and obtained landmark decisions for NMI clients. He has been successful where others have given up. He has identified issues at clients after other consultants have washed off their hands and his work with his team has generated substantial savings. If there is an issue he will follow it up with enthusiasm and creativity. In the past he has lectured at the CICA seminars. Ali is responsible for the overall marketing and client relations. Ali is currently chair of Social Services Network, a United Way York Region member agency.



AJAY GUPTA B.Sc. MBA
Vice-President Tax Advisory

Ajay spent several years with the Federal & Provincial Sales Tax departments in various capacities including legislation, audit, tax advisory and rulings, before joining the NMI team. Ajay's specialty is tax interpretation and his technical skills have allowed the NMI team to successfully identify issues, both at existing clients and for potential new clients. Ajay works closely with our professional consultants and provides arguments and case analysis, which have benefited NMI's clients. Ajay also is instrumental in developing issues that have won landmark decisions from the Federal Court level. Ajay is responsible for providing all technical training to both NMI staff and client staff. He leads the NMI Tax Seminar Program that is offered exclusively to NMI clients.



KHALID CHOWDHURY BA, LLB

Master of Social Science in Public Administration; & Bachelor of Law
Khalid has years of experience on Canadian sales tax auditing. Khalid has shared his legal and tax interpretation and auditing experience with the NMI team for the last four years. His auditing skills and application of the law and regulations as well as administrative policies have benefited many clients.



BENEDICT AU-YEUNG BA
Consultant

Ben joined NMI after graduation as a field consultant. He received his formal education at York University with studies in relation to management and business administration. He is currently in pursuit of a CMA designation. His specialty is computer auditing and he will be responsible to conduct the NMI in-house developed computer audit testing.



DIPESH BARCHHA BA
Consultant

Dipesh is a graduate from York University with a degree in Economics and Business with a specialization in Accounting and Financial Analysis. Dipesh's excellent communication and interpersonal skills has allowed him to progress within NMI. Being a recent graduate from York University, Dipesh brings to the NMI team a new and improved method of auditing thus proving to be a significant asset to NMI and its clients.



KEITH MILLS
Senior Consultant

Keith is the manager of the Property Tax department and is responsible for all the property tax appeals and assessment appeals. Keith has over twenty-six years experience having knowledge of property tax assessments for multi-million dollar commercial, industrial and multi-residential property owners. Keith brings his knowledge and experience from the Assessment Review Board and Ontario Municipal Board to NMI Clients.



Al TITUS BAS
Senior Consultant

Al has been responsible for technical interpretation and analysis of property tax assessments. Al brings has over 30 years experience in the property tax field. His knowledge and experience from the Assessment Review Board and Ontario Municipal Board has helped many NMI clients reduce their property tax assessments.



BRENT JAY BA, LLB
Consultant Tax advisory

NMI has formed a strategic alliance with Brent to handle legal issues on behalf of NMI and the Client. Brent has had worked exclusively in the commodity taxation, customs and trade law fields for the past 14 years several years experience in advising clients on matters relating to Canadian and Canada-US cross border issues. Brent's career in commodity taxation commenced at the Canada Revenue Agency in Ottawa where he was a investigations and rulings officer. At the CRA he was responsible for cross border enforcement and for resolving contentious cross border issues involving the agency. Brent has practiced as a commodity tax lawyer for 9 years with two of Canada's largest law firms. He regularly speaks at conferences which are attended by commodity tax lawyers, accountants and other tax specialists.



GARY FARB BA, LLB
Legal Counsel

Gary is general litigation counsel at Clark, Farb & Fiksel. Gary is also a mediator for Kennedy & Farb. Gary is general legal counsel for NMI and provides advice and corporate governance to NMI . Gary lectures in communications for Professional Development Centre of Osgoode Hall Law School and Ryerson College. Gary is former contributing editor to Butterworths Educational and Professional Publishers.
